· 3 countries
Series Overview
South Africa is set to host Australia in a three-match one-day international (ODI) series starting in Durban on Thursday, October 5, 2026.
Captain Temba Bavuma anticipates a challenge for the South African fast bowlers, who are expected to play a crucial role in the series.
Inexperienced Fast Bowling Line-Up
The depleted fast bowling department, due to injuries to key players Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Kwena Maphaka, and Ottneil Baartman, has left an inexperienced seam bowling line-up to take on Australia.
Lizaad Williams, the Jansen twins (Marco and Duan), Gerald Coetzee, Corbin Bosch, and Nqobani Mokoena, who collectively have played only 72 ODIs, will form the line-up.
Approach and Strategy
Bavuma emphasizes the need to make the most of the available bowling resources and manage the workload of the fast bowlers smartly.
He stresses that dealing with South Africa's fast bowlers is part of their 'DNA' and expects upcoming teams to face a formidable challenge.
