Donation goals and tiers that actually work
July 8, 2026

A clear goal gives a viewer a reason to donate. Well built tiers and goals are not manipulation, they simply make it obvious where support is going. This guide shows how to build both correctly.
Why a visible goal works
When a viewer sees a progress bar or a specific amount, a donation gains meaning, they see their contribution moving toward a real result.
A goal should not be too large at the start. A small, achievable goal that can be reached within one stream also gives the donor a sense of satisfaction.
How to build tiers
Split donations into 2-3 levels, for example small, medium and supporter, each with a simple, clear acknowledgment on stream.
A tier is not a rigid rule, it simply helps a viewer decide how much to give, a concrete example makes the choice easier.
Short term and long term goals
A short term goal, such as a single stream challenge, creates quick energy. A long term goal, such as new equipment, shows viewers progress over time.
Alternating between the two keeps interest alive, repeating only one type eventually makes a stream predictable.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the optimal number of tiers?
- 2-3 tiers is usually enough, more options make the choice harder for a viewer.
- Does a goal have to be a money amount?
- No. A goal can also be a number of donations or a specific challenge, what matters is that it is clear and measurable.
- What happens if a goal is not reached?
- That is normal. Mention the progress openly and carry it into the next stream, transparency builds viewer trust.
- Can I set goals for viewers abroad too?
- Yes. Viewers pay with any card, so the diaspora and fans abroad can support the same goal.
