First International Match Between Afghanistan and Japan
The men’s cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games will start with a historic clash between hosts Japan and Afghanistan at Nisshin city, marking the first-ever meeting between the two nations in international cricket.
Afghanistan, led by Darwish Rasooli as captain, will play its first group-stage match against Japan on September 24. The match will be held at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin, where the venue will host the men’s final as well.
India's Focus on Asian Games Gold
After winning a one-off T20I against Japan, India T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has shifted his focus to the Asian Games. Iyer stated that the Indian team will assess the conditions and have good game awareness to win the gold medal.
The Men in Blue will play their first game in the second quarter-final on September 28, with their opponent yet to be determined. All of India’s games will be played at Nisshin’s Karogi Sports Park.
