New MacBook Pro Features Touchscreen
Apple unveiled its first MacBook Pro model with a touchscreen display, marking a significant departure from its previous stance on touch technology.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display weighs just 3 pounds, a noticeable reduction from the current generation of non-touch models, which start at 3.4 pounds for the M6 models.
Technical Specifications
The device is equipped with Apple's M5 Pro or Max chips, offering enhanced performance and AI capabilities. The MacBook Pro also features a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits of brightness.
The 14-inch model starts at $2,899, while the 16-inch version costs at least $3,399, both notable price increases from existing models.
Apple’s Touchscreen Strategy
Apple CEO John Ternus emphasized the strategic importance of this move, stating that it is the company’s first laptop with a touchscreen display, reversing decades of resistance to touch technology.
The new MacBook Pro includes an illuminated Apple logo and a Dynamic Island for real-time updates and file searches.
