Burnley meet Middlesbrough in the Championship, English football's second tier, at Turf Moor with the home side still searching for a league win on their own ground. Hayen on Burnley's Goal Problem

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire after a penalty shootout defeat by League One side Bradford City in the Carabao Cup, in which Burnley failed to score in 90 minutes, he pointed to four goals in four games this season.

"It's a concern because we do enough to create chances and be in the box. We just have to be more clinical," Hayen said. "We're busy with offensive players because the goal threatening has to be higher. Everyone sees that it is urgent now."

The Belgian added that Burnley have historically started slowly on returning from the Premier League and said he is confident the pattern will repeat. The Racing Post notes the contrast with 2024-25, when Burnley conceded 16 goals in 46 games under Parker and kept 30 clean sheets; tipster James Milton wrote that Hayen's side have conceded nine in their first three matches this season.
