Confirmed Starting Elevens
Cagliari and Internazionale named their starting line-ups for a Serie A fixture in Sardinia kicking off at 20:45, the last of two Sunday matches in the Italian top flight alongside Lazio against Genoa.
OneFootball, which published the confirmed teams, listed Cagliari in a 4-3-3: Caprile in goal; Ze Pedro, Deiola, Rodriguez and Obert in defence; Romano, Winks and Adopo in midfield; Maldini, Fazzini and Mendy further forward.
Inter, listed in a 3-5-2, start Martinez in goal behind Pavard, Akanji and Bastoni, with Luis Henrique, Barella, Calhanoglu, Sucic and Dimarco across midfield. Lautaro Martinez and Pio Esposito lead the line.
Absentees on Both Sides
Cagliari are without Mina, described by OneFootball as suffering calf fatigue, along with Idrissi and Trepy.
Inter's only reported absentee is Spence. La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote ahead of the game that the defender had yet to train with his team-mates at the club's Pinetina base, working separately to regain fitness after missing all of pre-season because of the World Cup and holidays.
Form and Predicted Changes
Inter, described by OneFootball as the reigning Italian champions, arrive after a 4-1 win over Monza. Cagliari beat Parma, with OneFootball crediting a fine goal from Romano.
La Gazzetta dello Sport had expected coach Cristian Chivu to field the same eleven that beat Monza, keeping Pio Esposito ahead of Marcus Thuram as Lautaro's partner, which is what happened. The paper also reported that Bisseck held the advantage over Stones at centre-back, and that Sunday was another chance for Andy Diouf, who it said had almost definitively displaced Luis Henrique after playing well against Monza and providing the assist for Esposito's backheeled debut goal.
The confirmed line-up published by OneFootball differs on both points, with Pavard, Akanji and Bastoni in defence and Luis Henrique in the starting eleven. La Gazzetta dello Sport listed Sucic, Stankovic and Mkhitaryan as midfielders who could come off the bench; Sucic starts.
Transfer Business Around the Fixture
OneFootball reported that all four clubs playing on Sunday evening are active in the transfer market. Kamate is leaving Inter, and Gagliardini is described as almost certain to join Cagliari.
In the other match, Lazio face Genoa with a long list of absentees: Ratkov, who OneFootball says is out for transfer-related reasons amid an agreement to join Levante, plus Patric, Cataldi, Marusic, Dele-Bashiru and Pellegrini. Genoa, who lost late on to Napoli, have made an offer for Cancellieri and are without Venturino.
The result of Cagliari against Inter is not reported in the available sources.
