The Fixture at Cairo International Stadium

Al Ahly, the Cairo-based club, play Smouha SC in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday, 3 September 2026, at Cairo International Stadium.

Voice of Emirates reports that Al Ahly go into the game with six points from their first two rounds and are seeking a third consecutive win. AfricaSoccer reports the same start, naming ENPPI and ZED as the two teams Al Ahly have beaten.

AfricaSoccer describes the match as the only Egyptian League fixture listed for that Thursday.

Selection Questions in the Al Ahly Attack

YSscores, citing the Egyptian newspaper Youm7, reports that Al Ahly coach Amouta is considering a first start for forward Soufiane Benjdida against Smouha, after the player featured in recent matches and was assessed positively by the coaching staff.

The same report says the staff are leaning towards placing Algerian forward Mounsef Bakrar on the bench, having started him in the previous match against ZED. Youm7 attributes the thinking to rotation and to keeping competition strong among the club's attacking options.

AfricaSoccer, which spells the player's name Sofiane Bendjeddah, reports he is expected to be available despite mild pain felt during a friendly against Delphi. He completed a rehabilitation programme in Tuesday's training session as a precaution, and the issue is not regarded as serious.

The Forward's Record Since Joining

According to AfricaSoccer, the forward joined Al Ahly at the start of the current season from Maghreb de Fes. The Morocco-born player has made two appearances for the club, both as a substitute, and has provided one assist.

He has not yet started a competitive match for Al Ahly. Whether he does so against Smouha will depend on the coaching staff, the publication says.

Kick-off Time and Broadcast Details

Both publications list a 20:00 kick-off in Egypt, shown on ON Sport. Voice of Emirates gives the equivalent as 9:00 PM UAE time and 8:00 PM in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The same day carries three Saudi Pro League matches, though the two sources differ on the details. Voice of Emirates lists Al Fayhaa against Al Kholoud at 6:55 PM Egypt and Saudi time, NEOM against Al Khaleej at 7:30 PM and Al Diriyah against Al Qadisiyah at 9:00 PM, all on the Thamaniyah platform.

AfricaSoccer lists Al Khaleej against Neom at 19:30 on Thmanyah 3, Al Fayha against Al Kholood at 19:05 on On Sport, and Al Diriyah against Al Qadsiah at 21:00 on Thmanyah 1. Voice of Emirates also lists Real Sociedad against Celta Vigo in Spain and Toulouse against Lille in France, both on beIN Sports.

Neither source reports a confirmed starting line-up for either side, and no result is known at the time the sources were published.
