Release of Andy Dalton

The Philadelphia Eagles have released veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, a move made public on Friday before the team's departure for London.

Dalton, who had previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers, had been serving as the backup quarterback for the Eagles until he threw an interception in a Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears. The interception occurred when he was taking a shotgun snap and was jumped by rookie safety Dillon Thieneman.

Following the interception, the Eagles promoted Tanner McKee to the backup quarterback role, demoting Dalton to No. 3 on the depth chart.

Dalton's Career and Statistics

Dalton has played in 180 games, starting 169 of them, and has compiled a 84-83-2 record.

He has completed 62.6% of his passes for 39,793 yards, 254 touchdowns, and 152 interceptions during his NFL career.
