Janice Tjen Set for Singapore Open and US Open Draw

Singapore Entry List

Janice Tjen of Indonesia is on the initial entry list for the 2026 Singapore Tennis Open, according to the WTA, the body that runs women's professional tennis.

The WTA describes Tjen and Alexandra Eala of the Philippines as the two direct entrants from Southeast Asia in the field. Direct entry means a player gets into the main draw on ranking alone, without needing a wild card or qualifying matches.

The tournament has a 28-player singles draw made up of 19 direct entrants, four wild cards, four qualifiers and one special exemption. The entry list is based on an August 24 cutoff rank date.

The Field in Southeast Asia

Singapore is hosting an upgraded WTA 500 event for the first time. The WTA says the tournament returned to the tour as a smaller 250 event in 2025.

Three players from the top 10 of the PIF WTA Rankings lead the list: Jessica Pegula, Mirra Andreeva and Amanda Anisimova. The WTA notes that Pegula and Andreeva have won five WTA singles titles between them this season and have reached eight finals in total.

Andreeva and Barbora Krejcikova are the only two Grand Slam champions scheduled to play. Diana Shnaider, Sorana Cirstea, Eala and Ekaterina Alexandrova complete a group of seven top 20 players.

Calendar and Alternates

Main-draw play in Singapore begins on September 21. The WTA lists the first four alternates, who would come in if players withdraw, as Diane Parry, Mayar Sherif, Daria Kasatkina and Talia Gibson, and says they will top the qualifying draw.

That week is a busy one. The WTA describes Singapore and the Korea Open in Seoul as tune-up events for the season's final two WTA 1000 tournaments in Beijing and Wuhan, while the Billie Jean King Cup finals take place in Shenzhen, China, at the same time.

US Open First Round

Tjen also appears in the headline of a betting preview published by Last Word On Tennis, which billed its first-round selections for the 2026 US Open as including a match between Andreeva and Tjen.

The published text of that preview does not discuss the Andreeva match. It covers two other first-round ties instead, Anastasia Potapova against Tereza Valentova and Tatjana Maria against Jelena Ostapenko.

So the sources do not say when the Andreeva match was scheduled, on which court, or how it finished. The result is not yet known from the available reporting. The US Open is played at the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center and is the last Grand Slam of the season before the Australian Open in January.
