Pressure to Deliver ICC Trophy
Batter Fakhar Zaman, a key player for Pakistan’s cricket team, has admitted that there is pressure on the team to deliver an ICC trophy. This comes as Pakistan’s search for a major ICC title extends into its 10th year.
Zaman stated, 'There is pressure on us as a team to deliver an ICC trophy, and we have had extensive discussions about ending the country’s wait for a major international trophy.' The next opportunity for Pakistan to win an ICC event will be in 2027, during the 50-overs World Cup hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Preparations for 2027 World Cup
Pakistan’s cricket team, with Zaman leading the way, will start testing combinations from the upcoming tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka. Zaman believes that the players are in good shape after the domestic season and that it will be easier to adapt from 50-overs cricket to the format of the World Cup.
He emphasized, 'The happiness you experience as a nation after winning a trophy is different from reaching semi-finals or finals. We are taking it very seriously. We will do our best.'
