FBR Extends Income Tax Return Deadline to October 31
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan has further extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for the 2026 tax year.

Filing Deadline Extended
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for the 2026 tax year to October 31, 2026.
This extension builds on previous deadlines, with the initial deadline set for September 30, 2026, and a subsequent extension to October 15, 2026.
Reasons for Extension
The extension was made in response to requests from trade bodies and tax bar associations, citing issues such as delays in the issuance of return forms and technical glitches in the IRIS portal.
Trade bodies and professionals highlighted these challenges as significant barriers to timely filing.
Filing Activity
As of October 14, 2026, a total of 6.71 million returns had been filed, marking a 34.38 percent increase over the same period in the previous year.
Of these, 4.45 million returns were from non-salaried individuals, a 46.35 percent increase, while 2.18 million returns came from salaried individuals, a 16.16 percent increase.
