Deadline Day Move to Ibrox

Rangers, the Glasgow club who play at Ibrox Stadium, were closing in on the signing of Stuttgart winger Badredine Bouanani on transfer deadline day, according to Yahoo Sports.

The Algeria international was undergoing a medical to finalise the move, the publication reported. He would become the club's 14th signing of the summer transfer window.

Bouanani joined the German club Stuttgart last summer. He has previously played for the French sides Lille and Nice, and had a loan spell at Lorient.

A Busy Window Under Derek McInnes

Rangers manager Derek McInnes discussed his final transfer plans after a win over Falkirk, hinting at further additions.

"There's no secret that we've worked hard to get Kevin here, so, yeah, I think so," he said. "There may be one other little thing that we'll still pick up on when I come off the coach tonight and speak to Jim [Gillespie], potentially."

That referred to Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy, signed for £9million, with his arrival to be confirmed by 5pm, Yahoo Sports reported. McInnes has also welcomed Daisuka Yokota and Kim Minsu.

Squad in Transition

McInnes said the attacking recruitment was partly a response to an injury. "But if we can get Kevin and add to our attacking threats, obviously with Youssef's injury, it's been nearly a month since he got injured, we've been looking for that one, and thankfully we've got him," he said.

"I just think the club and the team will settle down. I really do. I think the team will settle down, and we'll get into a rhythm." He added that he did not anticipate any more departures.

Separately, BBC Sport reported that midfielder Nicolas Raskin, a 25 year old Belgium international, did not travel with the squad to Jablonec for the second leg of a UEFA Conference League play off, with Rangers leading 1-0. Raskin has been linked with the Turkish club Fenerbahce, and McInnes said interest in him had "stepped up over the last couple of days".

Open Questions

The sources do not state a transfer fee for Bouanani, the length of any contract, or whether the deal is a permanent transfer or a loan. Neither publication confirms that the move has been completed.

The sources also give differing counts of Rangers' summer business. Yahoo Sports describes Bouanani as a potential 14th signing, while BBC Sport, writing earlier, said the winger Kim could be the club's 12th.
