Captain's Decision
India captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and elected to bat in the second One Day International (ODI) against Zimbabwe at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, India. The decision was made to give Vaishnavi Sharma, a left-arm spinner, an opportunity to play. India also confirmed that Shafali Verma would continue to bat at No. 3, citing her recent form and ability to change the game quickly.
Mandhana noted that the change was not due to conditions but to provide Vaishnavi with a chance. She also expressed that having another left-arm spinner in the team was a good option.
Zimbabwe's Lineup
Zimbabwe welcomed back regular captain Josephine Nkomo, who had missed the first ODI with a minor injury. She replaced Sharne Mayers in the lineup, and Nomvelo Sibanda, who led the team in the first ODI, remained in the side. Nkomo called for greater intent from the batters and hoped that her bowlers could take early wickets, adapting to the conditions in Vadodara, which were similar to those in Bulawayo but considerably hotter.
