Zimbabwe's Squad for UAE Tour
Zimbabwe Cricket has announced the ODI and T20I squads for a multi-format tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tour features matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh, including an ODI tri-series and T20Is. The squads will compete from October 17 to November 17.
Sikandar Raza will captain both formats in the absence of Richard Ngarava, who is recovering from a back injury. The ODI squad includes familiar faces like Tafadzwa Tsiga and Vincent Masekesa, who are in contention for their debuts. The T20I squad retains much of the ODI group, with Innocent Kaia included as he works towards a return to full fitness.
Coach's Perspective on the Tour
Zimbabwe national cricket team coach Justin Sammons emphasized the importance of the tour for continuous growth and improvement. Sammons highlighted the strong performances of Afghanistan and Bangladesh in recent years, acknowledging their status as dangerous and valuable opponents.
The tour offers Zimbabwe its first full sub-continent tour across all formats in these conditions, providing a comprehensive test for the team. Sammons expressed excitement about the opportunity to play all three formats and noted the importance of the matches in preparing for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
