The Third Match in Windhoek
Namibia play Zimbabwe in the third match of the Namibia Tri-Nation series at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek on Monday, according to Sportstar.
The publication reports that the match starts at 5:30 PM Indian Standard Time and will be streamed live on the FanCode app and website.
The tri-series is a Twenty20 competition involving Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. In Twenty20 cricket, each side bats for a maximum of 20 overs.
How the Two Sides Arrived
Namibia opened the tournament with an 18-run win over South Africa on Friday, a result theScore described as a surprise and the International Cricket Council called a shocking loss for the South Africans.
Zimbabwe then lost to South Africa by seven wickets on Saturday. Zimbabwe won the toss, chose to bat and posted 144 for 8 from their 20 overs, with opener Brian Bennett top-scoring on 34 and Tadiwanashe Marumani making 30.
South Africa reached 146 for 3 in 13.4 overs, with 38 balls to spare. Duan Jansen took 3 for 45 for South Africa.
Brevis and the South African Response
Dewald Brevis scored 75 on both days. Against Namibia on Friday his 75 came off 50 balls and was not enough; against Zimbabwe he finished unbeaten on 75 off 32 balls, with six sixes and seven fours, and hit the winning runs off Brad Evans.
theScore describes Brevis as a 23-year-old right-handed batter and reports that South Africa fielded an experimental side. Brevis took the player-of-the-match award and said he was enjoying the ground and the crowd.
Team-mate Prenelan Subrayen, who took two wickets, told reporters it was a privilege to watch Brevis bat. Marumani, of Zimbabwe, said the innings was the turning point because it reduced the required scoring rate to less than a run a ball.
What Is Not Yet Known
The sources say the series runs to six matches before the top two teams meet in the final, but they do not give the full fixture list or the standings.
No team news, pitch report or result for the Namibia against Zimbabwe match is reported in the available sources.
