Deadline for Decision
Atletico Madrid has set a deadline for Julian Alvarez to decide his future by Sunday. The club wants him to either stay or consider a move to Arsenal. Alvarez, who is currently not training with the team, is struggling with the decision and is reportedly confused about his options.
Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has publicly stated that Alvarez is 'really struggling' and 'completely confused.' The club is firm in its stance that it will not negotiate with Barcelona, which is Alvarez's preferred destination.
Arsenal's Interest
Arsenal remains interested in signing Alvarez, but the club is waiting for the striker to show more interest in joining. According to Sky Sports, Arsenal believes it is unlikely that Alvarez will join them unless he shows considerable interest in being part of Mikel Arteta's plans.
The Premier League champions have not yet made an official offer to Atletico Madrid but are confident they can handle the visa and residency issues for Alvarez's family if he agrees to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Barcelona's Stance
Barcelona has not given up on signing Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid is steadfast in its refusal to sell to the Catalan club. Atletico's board has issued a statement backing their decision and emphasizing that there is 'zero consideration' of an Alvarez transfer to Barcelona.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the club will keep trying to sign Alvarez until the transfer window closes, but Atletico's stance remains firm.
