Raye's ticket sale disrupted

Singer Raye faced a major challenge when ticket sign-ups for her one-off 5,000-seat performance at the Royal Albert Hall were overwhelmed by AI bots. The sign-up list for Raye's 'This Symphony May Contain Hope' show on October 23 received 1.8 million registrations, but most were fake.

To address the issue, Raye's team manually reviewed the sign-up list to identify real fans and will send a pre-sale link and code to selected individuals. The remaining tickets will be available for general sale.

Impact of AI on ticketing

The incident highlights the growing problem of AI bots being used by scalpers to flood ticket sign-ups. Raye stated, 'I have never witnessed bots on this scale,' emphasizing the need to protect fans from inflated ticket prices.

Spotify has introduced features to help artists identify their real fans, while the Federal Trade Commission is investigating Ticketmaster for alleged collaboration with resellers to inflate ticket prices. However, manual review for large-scale events remains a significant challenge.
