Rugby Player Hyron Andrews Dies of Aortic Dissection
Hyron Andrews, 31, a South African rugby player, passed away after an aortic dissection while showering at a team hotel in France.

Cause of Death Confirmed
Hyron Andrews, a 31-year-old South African rugby player, died from an aortic dissection, most likely due to an aortic aneurysm, according to an autopsy conducted by French authorities.
Andrews was found unresponsive in the shower at the Lions' hotel on the Île de Ré, a day before the team's match against La Rochelle in the Investec Champions Cup.
The French authorities described the cause of death as 'a tear in the aorta (due to natural causes), which led to a significant accumulation of blood within the pericardial sac surrounding the heart.'
Rugby Community Honours Andrews
The Lions Rugby Company, representing Andrews' family, confirmed the official cause of death and requested privacy and patience during the repatriation process.
In a touching tribute, the La Rochelle players and fans paid homage to Andrews by observing a minute of silence and displaying a large image of his jersey on the stadium screen before the match against the Lions.
Andrews had previously played for the Sale Sharks in England and the Junior Boks, making two appearances.
