Harry Brook's Record-Breaking Innings
In an ODI match between England and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, Harry Brook of England set a new record by scoring the fastest double century in ODI history, reaching 202 in just 114 balls.
Despite Brook's heroic effort, England were ultimately defeated by Sri Lanka, who successfully chased down a target of 430 with an unbeaten 130 by Pavan Rathnayake leading their comeback.
The innings of Brook, who also reached 100 in 75 balls, was remarkable, but his team's inability to capitalize on his efforts saw England lose the match despite the record-breaking performance.
Sri Lanka's Counter-Attack
Sri Lanka's response to England's 429-4 was nothing short of extraordinary. Pavan Rathnayake, Dasun Shanaka, and Avishka Fernando were the key performers, with Rathnayake top-scoring with 130.
Shanaka and Fernando also contributed significantly, with Shanaka hitting eight sixes in his 97 runs. Their aggressive batting helped Sri Lanka get back into the game and eventually win the match.
The match is remembered for the second-highest successful ODI chase in history, with Sri Lanka's 430 being only the second-best after the 438 recorded 20 years ago.
