About this job

Job Title: AI Engineer Job Type: Contractor (~15 hrs a week) Location: Remote Schedule: Flexible; you choose your own days and hours, weekends included if that suits you

Job Summary: This position puts your specialist knowledge to work training the next generation of AI systems. What you produce feeds directly into how models learn, reason and perform, because the input is grounded in real-world quality. You do not need any background in AI to qualify; the subject expertise is the part that counts.

Working as an expert, you will build Reinforcement Learning Environments that probe whether an AI model can handle hard software engineering problems using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools. The problems themselves can range across bug fixes, new features, refactors and performance work, with agents expected to dig up and reason about information pulled from live MCP servers. Your builds need reproducible environments, deterministic verification and golden reference solutions, so that both MCP tool handling and engineering skill get measured accurately.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Working proficiency in at least one of C++, Python, JAVA, GoLang, Typescript, or Rust.

* Solid command of algorithms, data structures and performance tuning.

* A record of tracking down difficult software defects and shipping fixes that stay maintainable.

* Substantial experience building features and reworking existing codebases.

* Demonstrated skill in tuning software for speed and scale.

* Outstanding writing and speaking ability, paired with sharp attention to detail.

* History of working well across functions with other teams, with remote settings preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior work inside large, distributed codebases.

* Some exposure to current AI or machine learning systems, welcome but not necessary.

* Experience taking part in demanding code reviews and helping shape software best practices.

Process:

* Submit your application, including the screening questions

* Sit the AI Interview (roughly 30 minutes)

* Technical Assessment (Tentative)

* Review by the Hiring Manager

Compensation Structure Pay is tied to output: each task you deliver that meets project spec is paid for. How long a task takes will differ from person to person, depending on experience and working style. Minimum submission requirements apply, and experts must hit a weekly minimum number of tasks.

Start Timeline & Availability Roles here are usually closed out inside 48 hours, and we want experts who can begin immediately. Anyone selected is expected to pick up their first tasks within 24-48 hours of finishing onboarding.
