Rishab Shetty Backs Yash After Mixed Reception for Toxic
The Kannada actor called Yash's new film a daring experiment as reviews split over its screenplay, while Upendra and Kichcha Sudeep also voiced support.

Kannada actor Rishab Shetty, known for the film 'Kantara', posted a long message on X praising Yash and his new film 'Toxic', which released on August 26 to a mixed response, according to Eenadu.
Shetty wrote that as an actor he tries wholeheartedly to bring a role fully to life, and that the way the struggle of a powerful man was shown on screen impressed him a great deal.
He added that the story and the journey of the characters may not follow the usual commercial path, but that does not make the road the makers chose the wrong one. Turning an idea into a film and bringing it to the screen involves enormous effort, he said.
Support From the Kannada Industry
Shetty singled out the work Yash put into the role and called the film a daring experiment, saying he would always stand behind Yash. Addressing Yash directly, he wrote that they love his drive to take Kannada cinema to an international level.
He also sent his good wishes to director Geetu Mohandas and to the producers.
Eenadu reports that leading Kannada actors Upendra and Kichcha Sudeep have likewise declared their full support for 'Toxic' and for Yash.
The Film and Its Reception
'Toxic' is directed by Malayalam filmmaker Geetu Mohandas and produced jointly by KVN Productions and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, TV9 Telugu reports. Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Kiara Advani play the female leads, with Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair and Amit Tiwari in major roles.
TV9 Telugu says the film, delayed several times before its August 26 release, came out on a large scale in Indian languages and in English. It reports that reviews have called the screenplay confusing and the film cluttered with more characters than it can hold, with heavy bold and action content, while also praising Yash's acting and calling the film grand and rich to look at.
Expectations were high because this is Yash's film after the 'KGF' franchise, Eenadu notes, and its sharp departure from the regular action films audiences expected has driven debate on social media. TV9 Telugu also reports online claims that the story was first offered to Tamil actor Suriya, who is said to have passed on it because of the bold and action scenes, but the outlet states plainly that how much truth there is in this is not known.
