We are currently seeking a software developer to contribute to the development of dqlite, our distributed SQLite database, which leverages our proprietary Raft library for consensus and replication. Dqlite is accessible as a pure C library or through a Go package, and we plan to provide bindings for Python and other languages.
Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing improvements to the libraft, dqlite, and go-dqlite components, which are integral to our MicroK8s, LXD, and other projects. You will also address issues and respond to user inquiries.
This role offers a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with ample opportunities for learning and professional development. The position is remote and open to candidates in EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement new features for dqlite - Investigate and resolve user-reported issues - Enhance Jepsen tests, traditional high-availability database automated testing, and stress tests - Contribute to the engineering process through code and architectural reviews - Engage with the open-source community and commercial partners
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience with distributed systems, particularly with Raft - Strong C programming skills - Knowledge of asynchronous programming and concurrency patterns is a plus - Quick learner with a capacity to grasp new systems and techniques - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
