Role Summary

Maze is looking for a Product Engineer (Full Stack) to drive the product experience our customers see and touch. You would own everything from the interface down to the API, working at the pace a startup demands.

This is a chance to come in as one of the first engineers at a well-funded company sitting where generative AI meets cybersecurity. You would sit with our full stack product team and carry real autonomy, including your own API layer behind the React application, so you can ship quickly without waiting on anyone else.

Features would be yours start to finish: the polished UI that security teams open every day, plus the backend services that keep it running. We judge success on how fast you ship, how good the product is, how independently you operate, and the experience customers get. Not on process compliance or ticket counts.

The fit here is a hands-on full stack engineer who has done well in quick-moving B2B SaaS companies, likes independence and ownership, and wants to build something remarkable on a modern stack starting from zero.

What You Would Do

- Own feature delivery end to end: Carry features from the front-end interface through the API and into the database, shipping complete functionality that customers enjoy and that pushes product adoption.

- Build strong modern front-ends: Use React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, and the TanStack ecosystem (Router, Query, Table) to turn complicated security workflows into interfaces that feel obvious, with care for detail and speed.

- Design and run the API layer: Write and maintain fast REST APIs on our Python/FastAPI backend, keeping the services scalable, easy to maintain, cleanly structured, and tuned for performance.

- Work independently: Bring startup energy and high self-direction. Spot what needs building, decide technical questions fast, and get moving before requirements are perfect or process is in place.

- Tune for performance and scale: Keep improving speed across the whole stack, from database queries to front-end rendering, so the platform grows without strain.

- Shape architecture: Join technical and architectural conversations, apply your experience to our front-end architecture, and potentially take ownership of architectural calls as the team gets bigger.

- Pair speed with quality: Ship quickly, collect feedback, iterate. Startup pace, but never at the cost of code quality or customer experience.

What We Are Looking For

- Real full stack track record: 6+ years shipping production applications with genuine strength on both sides. Both, actually skilled, not one plus a little of the other.

- Serious TypeScript and React skills: Deep production experience with TypeScript and React (or comparable modern component-based frameworks), including component architecture, performance work, and current patterns.

- Fast RESTful APIs: A record of building performant RESTful APIs with server-side frameworks, designing API architectures that scale, tuning endpoints, and keeping backend services maintainable.

- B2B SaaS experience: You have built features for business users at B2B SaaS product companies and know what enterprise product work and customer-facing applications require.

- Instinct for database performance: A solid grasp of database interactions and query optimization. You sense which query is about to blow up and how to shape data access so it holds at scale.

- Startup pace: You do well when things move fast and stay ambiguous, with a bias toward action. You go and get it done rather than waiting for a perfect spec, and you make practical technical calls quickly.

- Detail without slowing down: You move fast and still care about customer experience and code quality. Built right the first time, at speed.

- Independent but collaborative: Happy owning your work from end to end on your own, and equally happy working with designers, product managers, and other engineers when the moment calls for it.
