The Role
On behalf of a client, we're hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to create, scale, and run an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that lets application software teams release code quickly, safely, and on their own. You'll approach the developer platform as a product: self-service infrastructure abstractions, automated CI/CD capabilities, and guardrails that take operational toil off product developers' plates.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years working directly in platform engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or core DevOps, with a demonstrated history of designing and shipping Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs). - Expert command of Kubernetes administration, custom controller/operator architectures, service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), and continuous delivery through GitOps tooling (ArgoCD or Flux). - Deep skill with Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi for assembling modular, reusable infrastructure blueprints across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure). - Solid Go or Python programming ability, used for custom platform extensions, CLI tools, Kubernetes operators, and API integrations. - Real-world experience creating or wiring in developer portals (e.g., Backstage, Port) plus automated workflow engines that hide infrastructure complexity. - Direct experience setting end-to-end telemetry standards with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry covering metric, log, and trace aggregation.
Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with cloud-native control plane abstractions such as Crossplane. - Some exposure to FinOps practices, container cost monitoring (e.g., Kubecost), and automated resource optimization. - Ongoing contributions to open-source cloud-native projects (CNCF ecosystem). - Solid grounding in zero-trust security controls, secrets management (HashiCorp Vault), and compliance automation.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and look after self-service platform tooling and developer portals so product teams can provision infrastructure, handle environments, and deploy services without help. - Keep automated GitOps delivery pipelines running reliably on ArgoCD/Flux, with safe release practices in place (canary, blue-green, automated rollbacks). - Look after cluster health, upgrade cycles, autoscaling rules, and security policies across multi-region Kubernetes deployments. - Produce production-grade Go/Python code for custom Kubernetes operators, CLI utilities, and API automation that smooths developer workflows. - Set up SLI/SLO tracking across the platform, stand up centralized logging and tracing infrastructure, and apply automated security and cost-compliance policies in every environment.
