About this job
Company Overview
Our client, based in Sweden, is currently seeking a Senior Platform Engineer. If you're passionate about building, scaling, and maintaining an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that empowers application software teams to ship code safely, independently, and rapidly, we'd love to hear from you.
Role Details
We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain infrastructure that supports internal development. You will focus on creating self-service tools and automated processes that simplify the software development lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Experience: 5+ years in platform engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or core DevOps, with a proven track record of designing and delivering Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs). - Kubernetes Mastery: Expert-level knowledge in Kubernetes administration, custom controller/operator architectures, service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), and continuous delivery via GitOps tools (ArgoCD or Flux). - Infrastructure Expertise: Proficiency in Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi to create modular, reusable infrastructure blueprints across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure). - Programming Skills: Strong programming skills in Go or Python to develop custom platform extensions, CLI tools, Kubernetes operators, and API integrations. - Developer Portal Experience: Experience in building or integrating developer portals (e.g., Backstage, Port) and automated workflow engines to manage infrastructure complexity. - Telemetry Proficiency: Hands-on experience in establishing end-to-end telemetry standards using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for metric, log, and trace aggregation.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Control Plane Experience: Experience with cloud-native control plane abstractions like Crossplane. - FinOps Knowledge: Exposure to FinOps practices, container cost monitoring (e.g., Kubecost), and automated resource optimization. - Open-Source Contributions: Active contributions to open-source cloud-native projects (CNCF ecosystem). - Security and Compliance: Strong background in zero-trust security controls, secrets management (HashiCorp Vault), and compliance automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Development: Architect, build, and maintain self-service platform tools and developer portals that enable product teams to independently provision infrastructure, manage environments, and deploy services. - Deployment Pipelines: Maintain robust, automated GitOps delivery pipelines using ArgoCD/Flux, establishing safe deployment practices (canary, blue-green, automated rollbacks). - Cluster Management: Maintain cluster health, upgrade lifecycles, autoscaling policies, and security policies across multi-region Kubernetes deployments. - Production Code: Write production-grade Go/Python code to build custom Kubernetes operators, CLI utilities, and API automation to streamline developer workflows. - SLI/SLO Tracking: Establish platform-wide SLI/SLO tracking, implement centralized logging and tracing infrastructure, and enforce automated security and cost-compliance policies across environments.
What We Offer
- Reliable Payments: Enjoy consistent monthly payments with flexible withdrawal options. - Predictable Hours: Work 8-hour days with consistent working hours. - Flexible Days Off: Take up to 24 flex days off per year without losing pay. - Exciting Opportunities: Discover unique long-term remote positions at leading companies. - Personalized Opportunities: Directly matched with hand-picked positions, bypassing typical recruitment roadblocks. - Seamless Process: A streamlined contracting process for endless opportunities, with no additional assessments. - Competitive Compensation: Receive the same pay every month with positions secured through Proxify.
