This role includes
- Enhancing core MAAS components and features to establish it as the premier bare-metal cloud system. - Refining MAAS architecture to simplify, speed up, and improve usability. - Partnering with other teams to ensure seamless integration with other tools and timely releases. - Contributing to our continuous integration environment, tests, and practices to ensure rapid feedback and robust test coverage. - Updating documentation for current and existing features, creating a premier resource for data center operators and users. - Engaging in technical communication and collaboration with other teams when necessary. - Taking ownership of problems and driving their solutions. - Traveling internationally a few times a year for team and collaboration events.
What we seek in you
- Enthusiasm for open-source software, Linux, and data center automation. - Proven professional software development experience, particularly in Python and Go for backend roles, or TypeScript and React for frontend roles. - Rapid learning ability for new systems and techniques. - Logical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting expertise. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. - Proficiency with Linux server technologies, such as KVM, LXC, and related tools. - A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field. - Knowledge of network technologies, including PXE, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, and NTP. - Familiarity with Baseboard Management Controllers and protocols like Redfish, IPMI, and AMT. - Strong networking, storage, and cloud hosting and infrastructure expertise. - Prior experience in large-scale physical server provisioning and automation, including rapid deployment, configuration, management, and service orchestration. - Familiarity with open-source development tools and methodologies used in Ubuntu projects, such as Launchpad, Debian packaging tools (APT, dpkg), and snapcraft. - Exceptional academic credentials. - Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
