What You’ll Be Doing The OpenSearch team is dedicated to automating the operational aspects of OpenSearch. This involves ensuring robust replication, TLS management, and other critical tasks, while also providing specialized knowledge to other teams within Canonical. The focus is on developing and automating features of data platforms, rather than analyzing the data within them.

* Actively collaborate with a globally distributed team

* Develop high-quality, idiomatic Python code to introduce new features

* Troubleshoot issues and engage with upstream communities

* Work alongside skilled engineers from various disciplines

* Work remotely with occasional travel for 2 to 4 weeks per year to participate in internal and external events

What We’re Looking For * Demonstrated expertise in software development using Python

* Proven experience in distributed systems development

* A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field

* Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events

Additional Skills You Might Bring You might also bring experience in the following areas, which could help us tailor the role and level to your background:

* Operating and managing search and analytics engines like Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and OpenSearch

* Linux systems administration, package management, and operations
