Scope of Work

- Examine and model stochastic two-state Markov processes with gamma-distributed waiting times in the study of bacterial population dynamics. - Utilize the Euler-Lotka equation to evaluate and standardize asymptotic population growth rates across different noise conditions. - Create or review analytical strategies using perturbative expansions in small division-noise variance and confirm the accuracy of these predictions. - Incorporate renewal theory and first-passage-time analysis to gain critical insights into population growth and cell-size regulation noise. - Document all methodological steps, assumptions, and findings comprehensively for AI training and reproducibility.

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced proficiency in statistical physics, biophysics, or similar quantitative biological modeling of stochastic processes. - Verified experience working with two-state Markov models and gamma-distributed waiting times in biological or physical contexts. - Proficiency in the Euler-Lotka equation, perturbative expansions, and renewal theory within the realm of population or growth dynamics. - Evidence of conducting first-passage-time analysis and interpreting its implications for growth-rate variability and size control.
