Man City Sign Enzo Fernandez in £125m Deadline Day Deal

The Record Fee

Manchester City signed midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea in a £125m deal, which BBC Sport describes as a joint-British record fee, as the Premier League and English Football League transfer window closed.

BBC Sport reports that Premier League clubs broke their transfer record for a second straight summer, with spending reaching £3.41bn. Manchester City alone spent a Premier League record £458m in a single window, passing the £415m Liverpool spent last summer.

Chelsea, meanwhile, appear to have received a world-record amount in transfer fees over the summer, £425m, according to BBC Sport.

Completed Moves

Jack Grealish joined Everton and Mykhailo Mudryk moved to Tottenham Hotspur. Iliman Ndiaye also signed for Manchester City.

Sunderland confirmed the signing of Belgium winger Malick Fofana from Lyon. French football expert Robin Bairner told BBC Sport the deal was outstanding value, putting the price at roughly 30m to 40m euros and calling Fofana's quality undoubted.

Leeds United signed forward Jean-Matteo Bahoya on loan from German club Eintracht Frankfurt, with a £1.7m loan fee, an option to buy at £19.7m and up to £4.3m in add-ons. Fulham signed Austria centre-back David Affengruber, 25, from Spanish side Elche for an undisclosed fee. Brentford agreed a deal for 17-year-old winger Kiefer Gorman from Watford, initially as an academy signing, with the move expected to be announced the following day.

Deals That Collapsed

Monaco pulled out of a move that would have taken Camara to Chelsea. Folarin Balogun's proposed transfer to Everton fell through after the player decided against going ahead with it.

Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham turned down an approach from Everton. BBC Sport reports Villa had been open to letting him go, having entertained a loan offer from Ipswich Town the previous week, but manager Unai Emery said it was the 28-year-old's own decision to stay. Emery attached a caveat, demanding Abraham improve on three goals in 19 appearances last season following his £18.25m move from Besiktas.

Everton did strengthen at right-back with Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Tottenham announced academy graduate Dane Scarlett will leave permanently for League One side Leyton Orient.

Late Business

Deals could still be completed after the 23:00 BST deadline if clubs submitted a deal sheet by 21:00 BST. BBC Sport said it was not aware of any Premier League deal sheets lodged for Lamine Yamal or Harry Kane.
