Injuries to key players
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo will miss Sunday's match against Manchester City at Anfield. Both players sustained injuries during their national teams' recent fixtures.
Iraola stated, 'Alex Isak and Cody Gakpo will not play the game. They are not ready. They both don't look like long-term, we will be analysing day to day but they aren't going to be ready on Sunday.'
Additionally, Dominik Szoboszlai will also miss the match due to a hamstring injury.
Lineup adjustments
With the absence of Isak and Gakpo, Lewis Koumas is expected to lead the line for Liverpool. Iraola mentioned that Koumas will be the primary striker, with Víctor Muñoz also coming in. Jeremy Jacquet will continue to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back, with Ronald Araújo chosen over Jeremie Frimpong on the right.
Iraola added, 'Even before that we don't have Hugo Ekitike, that is another striker I am looking forward to having available but we don't have Hugo, we don't have Alex. We will maybe recover Fede Chiesa but he hasn't played any minutes as he has been recovering from injury and has been doing a very good job in the international break with the small group we have.'
