About this job
Circuit Design Consultant Hourly Rate: $80-$130 Work Location: Global, fully remote Job Type: Freelance, approximately 15 hours weekly Flexible Schedule: Choose your working hours and days, including weekends if preferred We seek a proficient Circuit Design Consultant to join our AI training project. This project involves the design of electronic hardware, circuit simulation, automated EDA workflows, verification processes, and Python programming. Responsibilities will include designing, analyzing, and validating circuits, whether analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF. A typical task might involve interpreting circuit specifications, creating or amending netlists or hardware descriptions, running simulations or verifications from the command line, evaluating simulation outputs, and confirming the design meets its electrical and functional criteria. To be successful, candidates must have practical experience in fabricating, integrating, shipping, or completing the tape-out process for real circuit designs. Academic simulations alone do not suffice. Additionally, candidates should be proficient with Python and familiar with tools supporting command-line workflows or scripting interfaces. Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits. - Convert electrical specifications into schematics, netlists, models, HDL, constraints, or simulation inputs. - Execute circuit simulations, synthesis, verification, or related workflows using CLI-accessible tools. - Utilize Python for generating inputs, automating simulations, running parameter sweeps, controlling instruments, and analyzing results. - Evaluate voltage, current, power, gain, bandwidth, impedance, noise, timing, stability, thermal behavior, and other relevant metrics. - Conduct corner, tolerance, worst-case, transient, frequency-domain, or Monte Carlo analyses as needed. - Compare simulated results with analytical calculations and physical measurements. - Troubleshoot issues related to component selection, parasitics, layout, power integrity, signal integrity, thermal behavior, interfaces, or manufacturing. - Review AI-generated circuit solutions, identifying any flawed assumptions, incorrect configurations, or unsupported conclusions. - Create reproducible reference solutions and automated verification checks.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, or a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with at least 1-2 years of relevant professional circuit-design experience. - Practical experience in designing and implementing analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits. - Experience with actual fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped-out designs, not just simulations. - Proficiency in Python. - Experience with EDA, circuit-simulation, PCB, HDL, synthesis, or verification tools that support CLI, scripting, text-based inputs, or a programmatic API. - In-depth understanding of circuit behavior, component selection, tolerances, failure modes, and design trade-offs. - Background in hardware bring-up, laboratory validation, design verification, or post-fabrication debugging. - Ability to clearly explain circuit behavior and technical decisions.
Relevant tools may include ngspice, Xyce, Yosys, Verilator, KiCad scripting, SPICE-compatible simulators, HDL simulators, synthesis tools, or equivalent programmatic EDA software. Experience with comparable CLI-accessible tools is acceptable. Relevant Python tools may include PySpice, NumPy, SciPy, pandas, Matplotlib, cocotb, instrument-control libraries, EDA APIs, or internally developed automation tools. No single library is mandatory. Application Process
- Apply for the position and complete initial screening questions. - Participate in an AI interview of about 30 minutes. - Complete a technical assessment, if necessary. - Undergo a hiring manager review. Compensation
Compensation is based on output, paid per completed task that meets project specifications. The time required to complete each task varies according to the consultant's experience and workflow. Submission Requirements
- Minimum submission requirements apply. Start Timeline & Availability
- We aim to fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for candidates ready to start immediately. If selected, you will begin your first task within 24-48 hours of onboarding.
