About this job
About the Position
We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Infrastructure Squad - a highly skilled and dedicated team where ownership is paramount and expectations are rigorous. This is an intensely hands-on role at the heart of a high-traffic system, where you will be directly responsible for ensuring reliability, performance, and stability in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will tackle real-time production challenges, manage incidents, handle alerts, and participate in critical on-call rotations. Resilience, strong decision-making under pressure, and a proactive approach to improving systems at scale are essential qualities for success.
If you excel in high-demand environments, enjoy solving complex production issues, and desire to make a direct impact on systems used by millions, this opportunity is perfect for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor System Reliability: Actively track platform health, manage alerts, and respond to incidents in real time. - Participate in 24/7 On-Call Duty: Take full ownership of production stability in a high-traffic (5-7k RPS) setting. - Analyze Incidents: Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence. - Enhance Monitoring and Observability: Build and continuously improve monitoring, alerting, and observability tools within the Kubernetes (EKS) ecosystem. - Deploy and Optimize Infrastructure: Use Terraform, Helm, and GitOps tools (Flux/ArgoCD) to deploy, manage, and optimize infrastructure. - Promote Automation: Drive the automation of systems to reduce manual intervention and recurring issues. - Maintain CI/CD Pipelines: Keep CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices up-to-date. - Support Engineering Teams: Collaborate closely with engineering teams to support deployments and minimize user impact in a live environment. - Innovate with New Tools: Introduce and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance. - Handle Specific Requests: Manage environment-specific requests and ensure smooth daily platform operations under constant load.
Required Skills
- Kubernetes Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, troubleshooting) in high-load environments. - GitOps Proficiency: Experience with GitOps tools such as FluxCD or ArgoCD. - Incident Response: Proven experience in incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems in production systems. - AWS and CI/CD: Solid experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. - Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and logging stacks like ELK or CloudWatch. - Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols. - Scripting Languages: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js). - Version Control: Experience with version control systems (Git). - Incident Management: Familiarity with incident management tools like PagerDuty, Opsgenie, or similar. - Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strong ownership and accountability. - Proactive Mindset: Proactive, resilient mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and system stability.
