Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems for global enterprises and technology sectors. Our flagship product, Ubuntu, is extensively utilized in cutting-edge enterprise projects such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our client base includes leading public cloud and semiconductor providers, as well as industry leaders across various sectors. The company embraces a global, distributed collaboration model, with over 1200 employees in more than 75 countries, and minimal office-based roles. Teams convene in person twice to four times a year in diverse locations around the world to align on strategic and operational goals.
The company is founder-led, profitable, and on a growth trajectory. We aim to redefine open-source IT, DevOps, and IS operations, from bare metal to containers. Our objective is to revolutionize open-source application and infrastructure operations. To achieve this, we are seeking a leader to inspire and guide a regional software engineering team. This role involves inventing new technologies and building new products. Our Solutions Engineering team collaborates closely with our managed infrastructure operations team, which runs numerous private OpenStack clouds and Kubernetes clusters globally. This collaboration allows us to improve our infrastructure-as-code products based on real-world experience, mirroring that of our users and customers. We primarily work in Python, creating open-source automation tools that simplify operations for anyone building on Ubuntu.

Who you are:
- A passionate Python developer - Organized and committed to delivering timely, high-quality software - Understands the importance of reliable operations in an agile environment - Knowledgeable in cloud computing concepts and technologies - Experienced with Linux and networking - A lifelong learner
Bonus points for:
- A university degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field - Golang programming skills

We consider geographical location, experience, and performance in determining compensation worldwide. We review compensation annually (and more frequently for graduates and associates) to ensure it reflects outstanding performance. In addition to base pay, we offer a performance-driven annual bonus or commission. We provide all team members with a variety of benefits that reflect our values and ideals, tailored to meet local needs and ensure global fairness.
- Flexible work environment with in-person team sprints twice a year - A personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year - Annual compensation review - Recognition and rewards - Annual holiday leave - Maternity and paternity leave - Team Member Assistance Program & Wellness Platform - Opportunity to travel to new locations to meet colleagues - Priority Pass and travel upgrades for long-haul company events
