Maha Ashtami Date Confusion: 18 or 19 October?
Panchang debates the exact date for Durga Ashtami rituals, allowing flexibility for devotees.

Panchang Dispute on Durga Ashtami Date
According to the Drishti Panchang, Durga Ashtami, or Maha Ashtami, is celebrated on October 19, 2026. However, some Panchangs and astrologers suggest it can also be observed on October 18, 2026.
This discrepancy arises because the Ashtami tithi spans two days this year, offering flexibility for devotees to choose the most convenient day for their rituals.
Kanya Puja and Havan Timing
For Kanya Puja and Havan, the auspicious time is from 8:27 AM to 5:49 PM on October 18, 2026. The best time for Kanya Puja is before 10:30 AM. For Havans, the ideal time is from 8:27 AM to 5:49 PM, with the best time being from 8:27 AM to 12:29 PM.
Prior to the Havan, perform the ritual for Ma Gauri, offering sweets, pulses, and grains. Include the family in the Havan, and consider the Abhijit Muhurat, the most auspicious time for the ceremony.
