Weather Warnings

Met Éireann has issued separate yellow warnings for heavy rain and strong winds, affecting seven counties in Ireland. The yellow rain warning is in effect for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo until 6am on Thursday.

A separate yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, and Mayo. This warning is expected to cause difficult travelling conditions, wave overtopping, and some fallen trees or branches. The wind warning will expire at 6pm on Wednesday.

Expected Impact

The heavy rain is expected to lead to localised flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travelling conditions. Met Éireann advises that any rain or drizzle will clear early on Thursday night, and Friday is anticipated to be a bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers.

The outlook for the weekend is for dry conditions with temperatures between 11 and 14 degrees. Due to industrial action among public sector workers, there were disruptions to updates on met.ie on Wednesday, which may have affected the accuracy of the information.
