The Fixture in Dubai

Sri Lanka Women play Indonesia Women in Match No. 6 of the Women's Asia Cup 2026, a Twenty20 tournament for national teams from Asia. Yardbarker, syndicating a report that first appeared on CricTracker, says the game takes place on Wednesday, September 2 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

It is the first Twenty20 International ever played between the two sides, so the head-to-head record stands at 0-0. Indonesia are making their maiden appearance in the tournament.

Sri Lanka opened their campaign by beating the United Arab Emirates Women by nine wickets. Indonesia lost their first match to Bangladesh Women by 71 runs.

Form and Standings

SportsCafe.in reports that Sri Lanka lead Group B with 2 points from one win and a net run rate of 6.263. The same publication puts Indonesia third in the group with 0 points and a net run rate of minus 3.550.

SportsCafe.in also lists Sri Lanka as having won four of their last five matches, while Indonesia have two wins and three losses in the same span. The publication says Sri Lanka are the favourites according to the current odds.

Players to Watch

Chamari Athapaththu, the Sri Lanka captain, is described by both publications as the side's central figure. SportsCafe.in credits her with 374 runs in 10 matches at an average of 46.75 and a strike rate of 161.9, along with 9 wickets. Yardbarker reports she made 48 runs against the UAE at a strike rate of 192.

Yardbarker names Mithali Ayodhya as a key bowler for Sri Lanka after figures of 3 for 16 in the opening match. SportsCafe.in adds that Imesha Dulani has scored 215 runs and Kavisha Dilhari has taken 11 wickets recently.

For Indonesia, SportsCafe.in points to captain and wicketkeeper Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini, with 201 runs in 10 matches at an average of 33.5, and Maria Corazon on 144 runs. Bowlers Ni Made Putri Suwandewi and Sang Maypriani have each taken 10 wickets recently.

Conditions

Both publications expect a balanced pitch in Dubai. Fast bowlers may find some movement and bounce with the new ball, making the early overs difficult, before batting becomes easier as the ball ages.

SportsCafe.in says spinners are unlikely to get much help from the surface and puts the average first innings score at around 147, suggesting chasing could be the better option. Neither source reports the result of the match.
