This senior freelance position is within our Data Platform Modernization team, tasked with consolidating and migrating customer data infrastructure onto AWS in a matter of weeks. We help clients overcome stalled data programs, including pipelines that are unreliable and warehouses that lack new workload support.

Aedeon handles automated discovery, schema mapping, lineage extraction, and parallel-run validation. Your role will encompass strategic judgments and implementations: building EMR and Glue pipelines, designing data models for various storage solutions, orchestrating pipelines with Airflow, and ensuring stability through troubleshooting and optimization.

Responsibilities

- Construct and maintain data pipelines on Amazon EMR and Amazon Glue for production environments. - Design and implement data models and end-user querying for Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Athena, and Presto. - Develop and maintain pipeline orchestration with Airflow. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions. - Troubleshoot and optimize pipelines and data models to ensure they handle real-world loads. - Write and maintain PySpark and SQL scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading. - Document technical decisions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Stay updated on new AWS data technologies and assess their relevance to our projects.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - Proven experience with PySpark and SQL. - Extensive experience building and maintaining data pipelines on Amazon EMR or Amazon Glue. - Demonstrated ability to build and maintain data models for Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Athena, and Presto. - Experience with pipeline orchestration using Airflow. - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. - Capability to work independently and within a team.

Preferred Skills

- AWS Data Analytics Specialty Certification. - Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
