The Role

At AlphaSense, we have dedicated over a decade to helping professionals discover, trust, and synthesize market intelligence. As a Staff Android Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping and evolving the Android architecture and mobile-facing foundations that influence product quality across various customer workflows. You will leverage deep Android expertise to drive technical decisions, validation practices, and delivery patterns that ensure reliable native experiences with confidence.

This role offers significant architectural ownership and platform-level influence, enabling you to contribute to the long-term success of our products. You will help teams deliver faster while maintaining high standards of reliability, quality, and trust required in enterprise mobile experiences, including AI-enabled development, validation, and testing practices.

What You’ll Do

* Define and evolve the Android platform foundation: Create the Android architecture, modular boundaries, and native engineering patterns that enhance AlphaSense experiences, ensuring they remain fast, reliable, secure, and adaptable as the product evolves.

* Lead through hands-on Android system design: Transform complex product and platform challenges into robust production architectures grounded in deep Android expertise and modern platform practices.

* Improve reliability and delivery confidence: Influence how Android work is designed, reviewed, tested, and released, including the automation, observability, and AI-enabled validation processes that facilitate rapid, confident delivery.

* Create clear mobile-facing system contracts: Collaborate with iOS, backend, product, and design teams to establish API behaviors, ownership boundaries, and platform expectations that uphold native product quality without introducing hidden complexity.

* Enhance mobile-system judgment across teams: Convert complex mobile-system work into reusable standards and stronger engineering judgment for the teams building native experiences.

What We're Looking For

Required:

* Extensive experience in modern production Android architecture, with a proven track record of setting technical standards for a platform, product area, or native mobile domain.

* Ability to articulate mobile platform principles from a deep Android foundation, with sufficient iOS fluency to shape cross-functional architecture decisions that consider backend, web, and product choices.

* Experience in defining mobile-facing platform contracts, API behaviors, or backend service boundaries that enhance product quality across native client experiences.

* Capacity to read, debug, and contribute to backend systems when necessary to resolve mobile-facing issues.

* Expertise in AI-enabled engineering systems that improve validation, product quality, and delivery confidence for Android and broader mobile outcomes.

* Strong reliability and release-quality judgment for production mobile systems, with experience in setting quality standards for a platform or product area.

* History of empowering engineers by converting complex mobile-system work into clear standards, reusable patterns, and stronger technical judgment across teams.

* Exceptional product judgment and communication skills, including the ability to link technical decisions to customer outcomes and align teams around durable technical decisions.

Preferred:

* Background in building Android product experiences across diverse device and form-factor contexts, such as foldables, wearables, Android Auto, or other platform-native surfaces.

* Experience in enterprise mobile environments where identity, device management, compliance, or security constraints influence architecture, including MDM/EMM.

* Expertise in shaping mobile design-system foundations and design-to-code workflows that improve consistency, accessibility, development velocity, and AI-assisted UI generation across native platforms.
