Project Overview: At Clear Global, our Project Management Team handles various projects, such as language services, voice data collection, research, and technology initiatives. One of these projects, the Language Technologies for Crisis Response (LT4CR) initiative, aims to develop language technologies for under-resourced languages in crisis-prone regions.
Role Description: The primary goal of this internship is to support the coordination of linguistic tasks within our translation management environment, contributing to the LT4CR project. Specific objectives include corpus creation—building a multilingual collection of text and questions that voice contributors will either respond to freely or read aloud, to aid in training voice technologies for low-resource languages in crisis response scenarios.
Responsibilities: The MIIS Project Management Intern - Corpus Creation will assist in coordinating collaborations among stakeholders, ensuring project engagement, quality, and timely delivery. They will also manage internal processes necessary for effective planning, coordination, and compliance of activities.
Responsibilities Include: - Supervising specific linguistic projects as assigned by Project Officers. - Uploading and downloading project files, conducting pre- and post-production checks. - Tracking project progress and delivering regular updates to Project Officers. - Maintaining an organized project environment, including records, files, and databases. - Assisting in building and managing linguist teams, including general recruitment as requested by Project Officers. - Maintaining effective communication with project team members and linguists. - Handling translation quality and turnaround communications, ensuring clear task instructions and issue resolution. - Undertaking other project management tasks as assigned. - Acting in the best interest of the organization during the project period.
Qualifications: Candidates must be a current graduate student at MIIS, with excellent English skills. Knowledge of additional languages is beneficial. Prior experience in translation or interpreting, particularly with non-profit organizations, is advantageous. Strong organizational skills, independence, and the ability to work remotely are required. Fluency in writing English is essential, and familiarity with CAT tools is a plus.
