About this job
Canonical builds open source software and operating systems for enterprise and technology markets worldwide. Ubuntu, our platform, underpins major enterprise work in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Among our customers are the biggest public cloud and silicon providers, plus leaders across many industries. We pioneered distributed collaboration globally: 1200+ colleagues spread across 75+ countries, with almost no office-based positions. Two to four times a year, teams gather in person in interesting places worldwide to align on strategy and execution.
Founder-led, profitable, growing.
The open role: Marketing Manager
Our marketers protect the brand and generate demand. They turn dense open-source technology into messaging, narratives and strategy that shape how the market understands what we're building. Some concentrate on positioning products and portfolios distinctly; others go deep on account-based engagement, partner and alliance messaging, or product-led growth. Regardless of focus, every marketer sits inside a cross-functional unit, feeding in campaigns and insights that speed up company learning and growth.
We prefer action, put effort where impact is highest, and own our results. Buying cycles here run long, so we pair narrative with data, run experiments, measure outcomes, and iterate quickly until something works.
Canonical marketers do more than promote open source. They amplify it, getting our innovations in front of the right audience at the right moment with clarity and intent, whether that audience is developers or decision makers.
