About this job

Job Description

We are currently searching for a seasoned Strategic Procurement Lead at Shield Technology Partners to spearhead the procurement function across Shield and its ShieldCos. Reporting directly to the Finance team, this role encompasses the management of vendor relationships, spend optimization, and the entire procurement lifecycle—spanning from sourcing and negotiation to contract lifecycle management and renewal. We are looking for a proactive leader who can instill structure and transparency in spending across a rapidly expanding, multi-entity organization, unify purchasing power across the portfolio, and collaborate closely with Finance, IT, and business leaders to achieve substantial cost reductions. This is an opportunity to craft the procurement strategy from the ground up; you will establish the foundational frameworks rather than inheriting them. The role is fully remote, with occasional travel of about one quarter each year for company gatherings, trainings, and team collaboration events. Key Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include:

- Overseeing and managing the commercial strategy and vendor relationships across Shield and ShieldCos, acting as the key liaison for critical suppliers in areas such as software, hardware, telecommunications, distribution, and services. - Leading negotiations for strategic and supplier partnerships, including contract negotiations, renewals, and terminations, to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service levels. - Creating and maintaining a centralized contract and renewal schedule, ensuring timely action on upcoming renewals. - Developing a comprehensive view of vendor spend across the portfolio, identifying opportunities for consolidation and leveraging collective purchasing power. - Defining procurement policies, approval workflows, and purchasing controls in collaboration with Accounting and FP&A to ensure compliance and consistency across entities. - Collaborating with various finance teams to develop a scalable procure-to-pay process for Shield, aligned with best practices and operational efficiency, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting. - Working closely with IT and business stakeholders on software and hardware procurement, license management, and vendor due diligence, including reviews of new vendor security and data handling practices. - Supporting acquisitions and entity integrations by evaluating acquired vendor agreements, identifying overlapping vendor relationships, and migrating newly acquired companies into Shield’s preferred vendor and purchasing framework. - Monitoring vendor performance through scorecards, business reviews, and escalation processes. - Administering and optimizing procurement-related systems and workflows, such as NetSuite and Ramp. - Crafting key performance indicators and reports on spend, savings, and vendor performance for Finance and executive leadership. - Assisting in budgeting and forecasting cycles with vendor spend analysis and renewal projections. - Advocating for the integration of AI, automation, analytics, and procurement tools to expedite decision-making, reduce manual effort, and enhance visibility and digital literacy. - Driving process improvements that decrease cycle times, increase efficiency, and ensure policy compliance.

Success in This Role

We seek a candidate who can bring clarity and rigor to vendor spending across Shield’s portfolio, forge enduring vendor partnerships that grow with our acquisition model, and achieve tangible cost savings while preserving service quality for Shield and ShieldCos. Within the first year, they will establish a complete vendor inventory and renewal schedule, implement consistent procurement workflows, and achieve consolidation gains in at least two major spend categories.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - Over 8 years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management experience, preferably in a technology, IT services, or multi-entity environment. - Proficient experience with IT cloud, software, and technology providers. - Proven success in negotiating complex vendor agreements and delivering significant cost savings. - Strong understanding of contract structures, licensing models (SaaS, per-seat, consumption-based), and vendor risk management. - Advanced Excel skills with a proven ability to aggregate and analyze spend data across multiple entities. - Strong communication, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from ShieldCo operators to executive leadership. - Self-motivated and able to handle multiple negotiations and deadlines effectively. - A collaborative, innovative, and forward-thinking leadership style. - Comfortable operating in analytics- and automation-enabled environments. Demonstrated adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred

- Experience in building or establishing a procurement function in a fast-paced, high-growth, or acquisitive setting. - Experience with NetSuite ERP and Ramp expense management. - Familiarity with relevant vendor ecosystems (Microsoft CSP, distribution partners such as Pax8/Ingram, RMM/PSA tooling, telecom). - Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or multi-entity integrations.
