About this job
Introduction
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team as an embedded technical expert, guiding our customers from an initial interest in AI to operationalizing agentic workflows in their production environments.
This is a highly practical, hands-on role, not just an advisory one. You will be working closely within a customer’s environment, understanding their specific needs, data, and business objectives, and building agentic use cases that align with their goals. While you will have a strong grasp of Kubernetes, it will serve as the foundation of your work, not the primary focus.
About Giant Swarm
Giant Swarm is a rapidly expanding open-source infrastructure management platform utilized by modern enterprises. Our mission is to enable developers worldwide to deliver exceptional products—this role is integral to achieving that vision through our agentic platform.
Your Responsibilities
- Direct Customer Partnership: Serve as the embedded expert for a customer, actively engaging in the design, development, and deployment of functional agentic solutions within their environment. - Domain Mastery: Quickly familiarize yourself with a new customer’s domain (such as smart manufacturing, financial services, etc.) and pinpoint realistic AI/agentic workflows that can benefit them. - Workflow Design and Implementation: Utilize MCPs, skills, and our agent platform to craft proof-of-concepts and production-ready agentic workflows tailored to the customer’s specific data and systems. - Customer Advocacy: Serve as the customer’s expert on the capabilities of our agent platform, bridging the gap between platform features and practical implementation for their engineering teams. - Collaborative Enablement: Collaborate closely with customer engineering teams, offering devrel-style enablement, workshops, and pairing to ensure they can maintain and extend the solutions post-implementation. - Feedback Loop: Provide valuable insights and feedback to our product team on identified patterns and areas for improvement, influencing the next phase of development. - Sales Support: Assist in pre-sales activities by helping to scope AI use cases that would add value for potential customers and creating examples to support sales pitches.
Qualifications
- Customer-Facing Experience: Proven experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as a Solutions Architect or Forward Deployed Engineer. - Agentic AI Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience building with agentic AI, including MCPs, agent frameworks, and tool-using LLMs. - Rapid Learning: Ability to quickly grasp unfamiliar business domains and transform this knowledge into concrete technical solutions. - Kubernetes Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native operations. - Clear Communication: Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - DevRel Background: Experience in developer relations, workshops, or technical enablement is highly beneficial, as is prior Solutions Architect experience. - Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity, as this role is pioneering in our organization, with much of the “how” still in the process of being defined. - Time Zone: Availability to occasionally coordinate with Europe (UTC +/- 2 hours).
Compensation
Giant Swarm offers a fully remote work environment and uses a formula-based salary calculator to determine starting salaries, factoring in location, experience, and responsibility. This approach ensures fair compensation without pay gaps. The salary range is €60,000 - €90,000. The actual figure for hires outside Cologne will vary based on location and may include additional components such as equity and benefits.
