Overview
Princeton University's Office of Information Technology is looking for a Senior Developer/Analyst II to serve as a technical expert for the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) application. This role involves analyzing customer needs and developing customized solutions, reports, interfaces, and add-ons for HCM. Additional duties include operational support, testing, maintenance, and customer assistance. The Senior Developer/Analyst will work under the general guidance of senior staff and the Senior Manager/Director of the group.
A Senior Developer/Analyst will design and maintain interactive applications within the ERP system, focusing on planning, coding, debugging, documentation, and optimizing development processes, while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure scalable, high-performance solutions that meet business requirements. A remote work option within the US is available for candidates who meet the necessary criteria and experience.
If working remotely, individuals must establish a professional, distraction-free workspace with reliable high-speed internet connectivity.
Responsibilities
Business/System Analysis and Development:
- Evaluate customer requests and needs, develop conceptual models as required, and propose and design suitable solutions to address their requirements. - Collaborate with business partners to conceptualize solutions within the PeopleSoft environment, ensuring they meet the customer's business needs. - Design and develop interfaces between new and existing systems, both within and outside Princeton. - Work closely with senior managers and peers to convert functional requirements into technical requirements and implement appropriate solutions. - Gain a thorough understanding of the customer's business processes. - Establish and maintain professional relationships with business partners.
Support:
- Diagnose and resolve operational application issues and implement effective solutions. - Follow established change management procedures to transition changes to live environments. - Apply PeopleSoft Upgrade Manager (PUM) images as necessary. - Provide support to the Human Resources, Dean of the Faculty, and Finance and Treasurer departments.
Leadership:
- Research new functionalities and technologies to enhance customer business processes and address business needs. - Collaborate with ERP colleagues in exploring and implementing new technologies, including training and knowledge transfer. - Maintain an open and learning-oriented mindset towards new ERP platforms and artificial intelligence options to improve efficiency.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a PeopleSoft developer/analyst, with direct coding experience and experience in conducting business analysis with both technical and non-technical staff. - At least 5 years of experience supporting PeopleSoft HCM, focusing on HR, Payroll, Benefits, Absence Management, Time & Labor, and Self Service. - In-depth knowledge of PeopleSoft architecture. - Proficiency in PeopleTools, including Application Designer, Application Engine, PeopleCode, and Application Packages. - In-depth experience with SQR and SQL. - Expertise in debugging and tracing PeopleSoft sessions. - Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, XML, and JavaScript. - Understanding of security principles and practices. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Motivated and proactive. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, meeting deadlines. - Effective communication skills. - Capability to work both as a team member and independently. - Flexibility to adapt to change and stay current with technological advancements. - Familiarity with project methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an educational setting. - Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Fluid, Work Centers, and Activity Guides. - Familiarity with web service technologies such as Integration Broker, REST, and SOAP. - Knowledge of scheduling software like PeopleSoft Process Scheduler or IWS. - Familiarity with Application Work Environment (AWE). - Exposure to other ERP solutions such as Workday or Oracle. - Familiarity with change management processes and software such as ServiceNow. - Experience with COBOL.
