The Role

We're developing an AI assistant for developers to better understand and grow their subscription revenue. This assistant currently operates in Slack and is expanding to our dashboard and API. It can fetch real-time data, analyze experiments, debug integrations, and explain what’s happening in your app using natural language. We envision a future where most user interactions are either automated or mediated by our AI agent.

Our team has historically focused on deterministic CRUD systems, and we need an engineer to build the foundational infrastructure for our AI agent: orchestration, tool execution, context management, evaluation, and the trust layer that enables increasing autonomy.

About You:

- You bring at least 5 years of experience in shipping production systems. - You have practical experience with LLMs, not just prompting, but building systems around them: tool use, structured output, context management, evaluation, and orchestration. - You possess strong backend fundamentals, having built reliable, observable, and secure systems. - You're comfortable with ambiguity, as this is an early-stage product within a rapidly growing company, and the architecture is still being defined. - You're self-directed, capable of identifying what needs to be built, implementing it, and delivering it. - You collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment and can communicate clearly.

Bonus:

- Experience with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs. - You've built agents that other people use. - Familiarity with evaluation and observability frameworks like Langfuse, Langchain. - Knowledge of subscription business models, app stores, or developer tools. - Experience with Slack integrations or other conversational interfaces. - Contributions to open-source AI/ML tooling.

In the First Month:

- You'll launch your first agent feature, familiarize yourself with the architecture, tool ecosystem, and how Rico interacts with RevenueCat's APIs. - Identify and address the most significant reliability or performance gap. - Meet the team, set up your repositories, development environment, and debugging tools. - Get acquainted with RevenueCat dashboards, logging, debugging tools, cloud providers, infrastructure management, and general architecture.

Within the First 3 Months:

- Introduce a new agentic feature to tens of thousands of developers. - Own a core infrastructure area such as orchestration, evaluation pipeline, tool framework, or the trust/permissions layer. - Begin to scope and work on projects independently. - Gain basic incident response skills and participate in the on-call rotation.

Within the First 6 Months:

- Enhance the agent’s reliability, speed, and capabilities. - Contribute to infrastructure that the rest of the team uses for agent development. - Review code, create proposals, and participate in architectural discussions. - Deliver a major product or feature.

Within the First 12 Months:

- RevenueCat becomes AI-native, and you'll have built the foundational infrastructure. - You'll understand all major components of our agent system and be able to debug complex issues. - Initiate your own projects to improve our agent products, addressing current issues and priorities. - Mentor other engineers joining the team.
