The Role
Working as a Technical Mentor (TM) inside the Creative Tech-Lite vertical, you will back learners on the Content Creation program while they develop working skills in storytelling, visual communication, and content creation.
Your week involves running group mentorship sessions, giving technical support and feedback on how learners are progressing, and adding to a lively community where learners trade ideas, learn from each other, and grow together.
The fit here is an experienced digital creative who reads the content creation landscape well, likes playing with creative tools and formats, and gets satisfaction from building other people's skills and confidence.
What You Will Do
Technical Support (60%)
* Run weekly live study sessions and walkthroughs covering brand building, video editing, storytelling, and content strategy
* Coach learners on the fundamentals of content creation: hooks, scripting, storytelling, video structure
* Answer questions asynchronously on the community platform about tools, workflows, project submissions, and portfolios
* Give feedback learners can act on, and raise ideas for improving curriculum content, briefs, resources, and tooling
* Point learners toward useful tools, resources, and best practices as platforms and industry trends shift
* Help learners assemble strong portfolios and personal brands that win them clients or jobs
Community Engagement & Peer Facilitation (40%)
* Show up daily on the community platform, driving peer collaboration, discussion, and Q&A
* Set a positive tone by celebrating learner milestones and highlighting excellent peer contributions
* Help run 2-3 live community events monthly, such as creative showcases, feedback sessions, and portfolio reviews
* Write and post weekly community content: tools, frameworks, practical tips, creative prompts, discussion starters
* Work with the Community team on community tone, programming, and how we respond to learner needs
Essential Skills
* Demonstrated track record as a digital content creator who has made and published content people engage with
* Solid grasp of storytelling, audience engagement, and content growth strategies
* Confident with content creation and editing tools such as CapCut, Canva, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
* Able to read content performance metrics, judge what is working, and let that steer content decisions
* Background mentoring, coaching, or giving constructive feedback to creatives early in their careers
* At ease with mobile-first and accessible tools, open-source options included where they fit
Preferable Skills
* Has built and grown a content brand from zero
* Deep familiarity with African creative landscapes, audiences, and cultural narratives
* Has monetized content via routes such as AdSense, affiliate marketing, and brand partnerships
* Knows the business side of content: contracts, pricing, partnerships, crowdfunding
* A convincing portfolio covering content campaigns, storytelling, and audience growth strategies
Who You Are
* Courage: Willingness to speak up, challenge the status quo, and embrace new challenges.
* Humility: Openness to learning, seeking help when needed, and a focus on serving others.
* Adventure: A passion for setting ambitious goals, tackling difficult tasks, and finding joy in the journey.
* Initiative: Proactive problem-solving, a sense of ownership, and a willingness to go above and beyond.
* Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks, persevere through challenges, and emerge stronger.
Employment Type
Freelancer position.
Preferred Time Zones
GMT to GMT +3.
Because the role is fully remote, whoever takes it needs strong self-motivation, good organisation, and ease in a digital-first setup. Your program manager is your direct report line, and you will work across teams using Zoom, Slack, Gmail, and Circle, the community engagement platform. Communication carries this role: staying connected, sharing updates without being asked, and engaging properly with teammates and learners is what makes it work. You will also be supported in growing your skills and going after certifications that advance you professionally.
