Job Title: Member of Technical Staff, Coding Research Job Type: Full-time Location: Remote

The Opportunity We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff to contribute to the advancement of coding agents through research and development. This role bridges the fields of AI research, software engineering, and model evaluation, where you will develop the benchmarks, methodologies, and data systems that will measure and enhance the performance of next-generation coding models. Responsibilities

* Create and oversee evaluation frameworks for coding agents, including benchmark specifications, scoring systems, criteria, and quality standards.

* Lead comprehensive research projects aimed at assessing and improving coding model performance across various software engineering tasks.

* Produce high-quality datasets, exemplary examples, and evaluation protocols that facilitate the reliable assessment of cutting-edge coding systems.

* Analyze model behavior and failure patterns, identifying systemic weaknesses and converting findings into practical improvements for training and evaluation.

* Develop tools and infrastructure that support extensive experimentation, data generation, review processes, and evaluation pipelines.

* Set industry standards for coding-agent assessment, ensuring methodological rigor, reproducibility, and measurement accuracy.

* Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and applied AI teams to design experiments and evaluate emerging model capabilities.

* Contribute to technical reports, benchmark studies, and client-oriented research initiatives that highlight model performance and insights.

Requirements

* A robust background in software engineering with proficiency in Python, C++, or similar programming languages.

* At least 3 years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, AI research, evaluation, or related technical fields.

* Experience in designing, reviewing, or validating technical assessments, benchmarks, coding tasks, or evaluation methodologies.

* Knowledge of large language models, coding agents, reinforcement learning, model evaluation, or related AI systems.

* Proven capability to build tools, automate workflows, and enhance technical processes through systematic experimentation.

* Strong analytical skills for investigating model behavior and deriving insights from complex technical systems.

* Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey technical findings to diverse audiences.

* Comfortable working in dynamic research environments with significant ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Desired Experience

* Prior experience in frontier AI systems, coding agents, or model evaluation research.

* A deep interest in understanding how data, evaluations, and feedback mechanisms impact model capabilities.

* A history of independently driving ambiguous technical or research projects from start to finish.

* Experience in designing benchmarks or datasets for large-scale machine learning systems.

* Familiarity with agentic workflows, tool usage, reinforcement learning, or post-training methodologies.

* Publications, open-source contributions, or demonstrated technical leadership in AI, machine learning, or software engineering.

Compensation & Benefits The national salary range for this full-time role is $200,000 to $260,000 USD.
