We are seeking Python and Kubernetes Specialist Engineers focused on data, workflows, AI/ML, and analytics solutions to join our teams that build open-source solutions for public cloud and private infrastructure.

As a member of the team, you will collaborate on comprehensive data analytics and MLOps solutions, incorporating popular open-source machine learning tools such as Kubeflow, MLFlow, DVC, and Feast. You may also engage with ETL, data governance, and visualization tools like Apache Superset, dbt, workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow and Temporal, or data warehouse solutions like Apache Trino or ClickHouse. These solutions can run on local servers, the cloud, or Kubernetes, on developer desktops, or as web services.

Location: This initiative encompasses multiple teams that are home-based and span across multiple time zones. While we encourage distributed collaboration, we also ensure colleagues are supported during their working hours. Successful candidates will join a team where most members and your manager are in the same time zone, providing a conducive environment for constant collaboration and discussion.

Your typical day will involve:

- Expanding your knowledge of the Linux stack, including the kernel, networking, storage, and application layers. - Designing, building, and maintaining solutions for public and private clouds and local workstations. - Mastering distributed systems concepts such as observability, identity, and tracing. - Collaborating with a distributed team of engineers, designers, and product managers. - Debugging issues and engaging with upstream and Ubuntu communities in public forums. - Generating and discussing ideas, and working on finding effective solutions.

What we seek in you:

- Professional or academic experience with Python. - A strong academic background, including a high school and university record. - A relevant undergraduate degree in a technical field or a compelling narrative of an alternative path. - The confidence to share your ideas, feedback, and innovations openly. - A history of consistently exceeding expectations. - A genuine passion for technology, demonstrated through personal projects and initiatives. - A strong work ethic and the confidence to excel alongside driven colleagues. - Exceptional written and spoken English, with strong presentation skills. - Experience with Linux, with a preference for Debian or Ubuntu. - Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability. - An appreciation for diversity, and effective communication in a multi-cultural, multi-national organization. - Thoughtfulness and self-motivation. - A commitment to delivering results and meeting commitments. - The ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.

Additional skills that would be beneficial:

- Proven experience in building highly automated machine learning solutions, data pipelines, or orchestrating workflows for the cloud. - Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools. - Experience with container technologies such as Docker, LXD, or Kubernetes. - Experience with public clouds like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - A working knowledge of cloud computing. - A dedication to software quality and testing. - Experience working on open-source projects.
