We seek an exceptional content marketing leader to spearhead our content efforts and oversee a talented team of writers and content strategists. Canonical boasts a comprehensive suite of open-source products and offers support for a wide array of open-source technologies. This role is suited for individuals who are deeply committed to narrative excellence and aspire to enhance our brand's position. The role demands a blend of process management, creative thinking, leadership, and strategic planning to ensure our content supports our business goals.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about technology, its application in marketing, and leveraging technology to improve marketing outcomes. They should relish the opportunity to refine content processes, mentor team members on narrative development, and bolster our brand's authority. They should be eager to learn, grow, and contribute to the overall success of the team and organization. They must be analytical, organized, and adept at team building, capacity planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
This role reports to the Director of Communications. The ideal candidate will be based remotely within the EMEA region.
Your typical day will involve:
- Crafting and executing a content marketing strategy that aligns with our business objectives, SEO, and brand identity. - Managing the entire content calendar, ensuring smooth and efficient content production with clear processes. - Guaranteeing content quality, consistency, and brand alignment across all our outputs. - Collaborating with our web and growth engineering teams to enhance content for search engines and AI, leveraging SEO or GEO expertise. - Leading quarterly content planning sessions and closely working with content specialists, product managers, and marketing to refine content plans. - Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) for our content program, using analytics to identify areas for improvement. - Coordinating messaging to ensure seamless integration across all channels, collaborating closely with our marketing, product, and brand teams.
The qualifications we seek in you:
- At least 5 years of experience in content or related roles, ideally at technology companies, with at least 2 years of managerial or leadership experience. - Demonstrated success in creating authoritative and engaging content. A portfolio of written work is required. - Practical knowledge of SEO and GEO, experience with relevant tools, and a proven track record with SEO-driven content calendars. - Exceptional project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to streamline content production processes and facilitate content reuse. - A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. - A strong passion for technology and open-source software. - A problem solver: you embrace challenges and see projects through to completion. - Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, yet flexible when necessary.
