OVERVIEW
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Tech Linguistic Tester to proofread and edit localized content in your native language, ensuring accuracy in content such as grammar, typos, syntax, punctuation, capitalization, cultural sensitivity, consistency, and spacing. You will occasionally translate content from English to your native language. Additionally, you will verify user interfaces for functional issues.
Responsibilities: - Document and report relevant bugs and errors using best practices through our internal database system. - Quickly and efficiently manage and prioritize tasks and issues. - Possess native-level language skills and cultural awareness. - Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills. - Maintain high levels of organization and attention to detail, with a commitment to quality. - Conduct quality assurance on various products by accurately following testing instructions and test cases. - Identify and report defects (bugs) using specific client bug tracking tools. - Assess translations within the context of software, mobile applications, and documentation. - Serve as a subject matter expert for linguistic issues in the target language; research and resolve linguistic questions. - Adhere to project-specific quality standards, trademarks, style guides, and client-preferred checklists and glossaries. - Troubleshoot basic problems and effectively communicate and escalate testing issues. - Complete assigned tasks promptly and to a high standard.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a college or university in a related field, or equivalent experience. - Native-level fluency (both spoken and written) in the required language(s). - Current awareness of technical language usage in the target language. - Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken. - Experience with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Ability to navigate networks and websites across different browsers. - Basic knowledge of PC hardware (desktop and laptop). - Familiarity with smartphones (iPhone or Android). - Knowledge of Android and iOS operating systems. - At least 3 years of professional translation and localization experience. - Understanding of the native culture and trends. - Active user of social media, especially the Facebook family of apps. - Experience with consumer devices that provide utility like messaging, health, fitness, calendar, and organization.
Key Competencies: - Strong awareness of the company and industry. - Ability to establish and develop processes and procedures for client programs. - Strong problem-solving skills to arrive at optimal solutions. - Excellent time management skills. - Adherence to a Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle approach to tasks and workloads. - Ownership of deliverables.
Other Skills: - Must be organized and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. - Preference given to candidates with localization/QA/translation experience or advanced computer skills.
