Our flagship product, Ubuntu, is widely utilized in cutting-edge enterprise projects such as public cloud services, data science, artificial intelligence, engineering innovation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The company embraces distributed collaboration, with a global team of over 1200 colleagues spread across more than 80 countries, featuring minimal office-based roles. We convene in person two to four times a year in diverse locations worldwide to align on strategic and operational goals.

We support Canonical and Ubuntu operations, but we also contribute to the development of Canonical's managed application services, setting new standards in devops and cloud-native operations. We are committed to infrastructure-as-code, pushing the boundaries towards next-generation model-driven operations. Our goal is not only to automate every process but also to share this automation as open-source packages for others to use.
We operate across the full technology stack, from bare metal to Kubernetes, including cloud and virtualization. We also work with a wide range of infrastructure, from public cloud to private cloud and edge environments.
Our team is distributed and based in the APAC and EMEA regions. You will lead a team in your time zone, reporting to a global director who may be based in a different time zone.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee daily agile devops practices with your team - Serve as a liaison between the IS team and stakeholders, customers, and internal teams - Organize and drive internal projects - Mentor engineers to enhance their skills - Measure and improve team performance - Implement structured engineering and operations processes - Ensure the team stays focused on priorities, milestones, and deliverables - Work to meet global service level agreements for customer deployments - Deliver high-quality managed services consistently and promptly
We are seeking candidates with:
- A strong drive and proven history of exceeding expectations - Experience delivering software using infrastructure as code - Experience managing devops teams for SaaS or similar offerings - Knowledge of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality - Technical expertise in complex distributed systems - Understanding of cloud topologies and technologies - Willingness to travel twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks - Exceptional academic credentials
Desirable Skills Include:
- Experience with Ubuntu system administration - Familiarity with agile software development methodologies - Experience working in and managing distributed teams
At Canonical, we offer:
- A flexible, remote working environment with in-person team sprints twice a year - A personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 annually - Regular annual compensation reviews - Recognition and rewards programs - Generous annual leave - Maternity and paternity leave - An Employee Assistance Program - Opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues - Priority access to travel upgrades for company events
